Last Friday Wayne hosted Konawa and the Bulldogs dropped a 50-49 overtime decision.

Jaxon Dill led Wayne with 18 points in the close loss. Wyatt Webster added 11 and Kaleb Madden had eight.

Webster also had 12 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.

It was a back and forth game that saw Konawa hold a one point, 24-23 lead at halftime. But, Wayne and Konawa were knotted at 44-all at the end of regulation.

“This was a game of runs. And we didn’t handle it all that well,” head coach Jackson Embry said.

Konawa outscored Wayne 6-5 in overtime to pull out the one point win.

“We were leading with just seconds left but our guys just jogged back, giving them an opportunity at a last second winning layup,” Embry said.

Tuesday’s game at Wynnewood was canceled due to inclement weather and school closings.

Wayne is scheduled to be in Maud on Friday night. They will host Maysville for their final regular season game on Tuesday.

District pairings were released. The Wayne Bulldogs will be at Southwest Covenant to play the Patriots and Strother.

The Bulldogs will face Strother in the first game on Friday night.

“Our district draw is a good one based on our season. Strother is who we’ll play first. They are fast and physical and run alot. We’ll have to be playing our best game.”

Girls

The Lady Bulldogs fell to Konawa last Friday night, 42-27.

Points were tough to come by in the loss with just three Lady Bulldogs scoring in the game.

Senior Kaylee Madden led the way with 19 points. Faith Brazell added six and Brysten Shephard had two.

Madden, Brazell and Madi Sharp combined for 18 rebounds.

Tuesday’s road game with Wynnewood was canceled due to inclement weather. But, Friday’s game at Maud was still on as scheduled.

“We will have to get our game going again against Maud. We played them in the Graham-Dustin third place game,” head coach Bill Burnett said.

The Lady Bulldogs’ final regular season game will be hosting Maysville Tuesday for senior night.

In the released District pairings, Wayne will play Southwest Covenant next Friday night. Also in their district is Strother (Class A No. 17).

“If we can put our games together and come out and execute like we are capable of doing, we stand a really good chance,” Burnett said.
