The Wayne Lady Bulldogs were in Binger starting Thursday for a tournament.

Sophomore Taelyn Ringwald scored 61 points through three games.

The loss to Union City was a back and forth game, starting in the first quarter when Wayne outscored the Tigers 17-15.

In the second, Union City scored 10 to Wayne’s nine, as the Lady Bulldogs led 26-15 at the break.

Things tightened up in the third quarter as Union City outscored Wayne 15-4. Wayne came back in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as they dropped the game 49-43.

Ringwald led her team with 23 points. Audra Watts added 10.

In their second game, against Fletcher, Wayne started slow, down 27-21 at halftime.

But, it was a story of two halves as Wayne outscored Fletcher in both the third and fourth quarters to pull out the 54-46 win.

Watts was the leading scorer with 23 points. Ringwald was on her heels with 20.

That win set up a consolation game with host Binger.

Once again Wayne started slow, scoring just ten first half points. Binger led 16-10.

The third quarter was a defensive battle, as Wayne managed nine to Binger’s 14.

Down 11 points going into the fourth quarter, Wayne dug deep and outscored Binger 17-3 to pick up the Consolation win, 36-33.

Ringwald and Watts combined for 26 points while Madilyn Sharp added five.

Last Tuesday Wayne hosted Little Axe and picked up a 41-29 win.

Ringwald led the team with 22 while Sharp added 13.

The Lady Bulldogs are sitting at 6-3 and were scheduled to host Bray-Doyle on Tuesday.
