PUBLIC NOTICE –

SPECIAL EDUCATION

RECORD DESTRUCTION

Washington Public Schools hereby provides notice of the intent to destroy Special Education records for students who graduated, transferred, withdrew, or exited services during the 2020-2021 school year and prior. The destruction of eligible records will take place 60 days after the publication of this notice in accordance with state and federal record retention guidelines.

Records scheduled for destruction may include special education files, evaluation reports, eligibility documentation, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and related records maintained by the district.

Parents, guardians, or former students who wish to obtain copies of records prior to destruction should contact the Washington Public Schools Administration Office within the 60-day notice period. School staff may be reached at 405-288-6190 or by mail at P.O. Box 98, Washington, OK 73093.

All records will be destroyed using secure methods to protect confidential and sensitive information in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
