The Washington Warriors won the Heart of Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament Saturday when they defeated Blanchard, 3-2.
“We hit it pretty well and put up a decent amount of runs,” Warrior head coach Tylor Lampkin said. “The tournament was loaded (with good teams).”
Bridge Creek
Washington opened with a 8-4 win over Bridge Creek.
Ellie Musgrove got the start in the circle and Ally Dennis came on in relief.
Ava Salcedo was 3-4 with a homer and two doubles. She had five RBIs.
Julie Hoehner was 2-3 with a home run and a double.
The Warriors took the lead early before letting Bridge Creek tie the game at 3-3 in the third inning.
But Washington regained control of the game in the fourth inning.
Norman
Washington blanked Norman 6-0 in the second game.
Payton Blackburn pitched a dazzler, striking out seven while only allowing one hit and giving up a lone walk.
“Our pitchers threw it well,” Lampkin said. “They put it in the zone and let us play defense.”
Salcedo was 1-3 and homered again. She had two RBIs.
Kinzlee Pogue was 1-3 with a triple.
Bentli Brantley was 2-2 and Presley Lucas and Daphne Palumbo both hit doubles.
Bethany
The Warriors defeated Bethany 3-2. All the scoring action came in the third inning for both teams.
Dennis and Musgrove teamed up in the circle.
Hoehner homered in the third inning.
Tuttle
Washington beat Tuttle 7-0 on the arm of Blackburn, who had a five strikeout performance.
Salcedo was 3-3 with three RBIs. She homered and hit a triple. It was Salcedo’s third homer of the tournament.
Emersyn Massey was 2-3.
Presley Lucas was 2-3 with an RBI.
“Having Presley back is a big deal with her leadership,” Lampkin said.
Blanchard
Washington beat Blanchard 3-1 in the finals.
The Warriors scored one run in each of the first three innings.
Blackburn got the start and struck out four batters.
Brantley was 2-3 as was Raelee Adkins.
“Bentli Brantley is a freshman who has come on strong. She’s a nice addition to have,” said Lampkin. “Ava Salcedo, Julie Hoehner and Raelee Adkins all hit it really well.”
Lampkin said he was hoping to get some games in this week, but with rain scheduled in the forecast dry fields will be hard to find.
“I like the progress we’re making,” he said. “We’re getting better with our pitching and will continue to get better.”
Washington is 10-1.
