The Washington Warrior slow-pitch softball team played host to the Regional softball tournament.

Games were scheduled to be played on Wednesday, with a chance of rain looming.

Stillwell, McLoud and Perkins-Tryon joined Washington for the Regional tournament.

Two teams will advance to the State tournament out of the Regional tournament.

“Our region is top to bottom probably the toughest region,” Warrior head coach Tylor Lampkin said. “Perkins beat North Rock Creek and Stillwell is playing well. McLoud is way better this year than they have been. It’s a tough match up but if we take care of our business we’ll be okay.”

Moore

Washington picked up a 12-5 win over 6A No. 5 Moore on Monday.

Emjay Lucas was 3-4 with two RBIs.

Julie Hoehner had four ribbies and was 2-4 on the day. She also homered.

Bailey Hyde, Kinzlee Pogue and Olivia Palumbo all doubled in the game. Palumbo joined Hoehner and Ava Salcedo in home run swings.

“We hit it well,” Lampkin said. “We were a little sluggish at first but hit some homers late with the wind blowing in. I was happy to see that.”

The Warriors were in command of the game until the sixth inning when Moore put up four runs to make it interesting and a three-run game.

“They scored a few runs late,” Lampkin said. “We played really good defense. The whole infield played well and Halle Andrews and Reese Schrader made several double plays.”

After being off the diamond for a week, Lampkin was happy to be playing again.

“It was a good win after taking a full week off,” he said. “Everyone is just so busy this time of year, you try to make sure we get some rest.”

Washington is 28-6 as they enter the Regional tournament.

“I’m just ready to roll with this bunch,” Lampkin said.
