Two wins for Lady ‘Dawgs

Posted

The Lady ‘Dawgs picked up two wins on Monday when they bested Harrah 11-8 then Bethel 17-6.

“As a team we’re hitting .436 right now. We’re swinging the bats well,” head coach Monty Ervin said.

Ervin was very complimentary of his team’s defense in the Harrah win.

“We made some outstanding defensive plays including when Mackenzie Manuel had a play at short center that saved some runs,” Ervin said.

Leslie Barber was in the circle and her coach was proud of her ball placement.

He also mentioned Kiely Givens who had a grand slam in the seventh inning to put the game away.

Immediately following, Lexington picked up their 17-6 win over Bethel.

“They are a big, athletic team but we continued to pound the ball at the plate and swung it well.”

The Lady ‘Dawgs had 17 runs on 15 hits and 17 RBIs.

Junior Alie Holler was 3-3 at the plate, including a three-run home run. Brodie Anderson added a double.

Barber and Abby Sample were both 2-3 at the plate.

Despite playing against the wind in the game, Lexington’s defense kept the Lady Wildcats in check.

Lexington was scheduled to play in Dale on Tuesday against the Lady Pirates and Blanchard.

The Wayne Festival is slated to be on Friday.
