Tiajuana Jeanne Abshure died March 4, 2021 in Purcell at the age of 94 years 4 month 14 days. Gravesite services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Byars Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Online condolences may be made at www.wadleysfuneralservice.com.

Jeanne was born October 21, 1926 in Byars, Oklahoma, to Harry and Gladys (Thorne) Grider. She was raised in Byars until junior high, when the family moved to Oklahoma City, where Jeanne graduated from Capital Hill High School in 1944.

On April 3, 1945, she married R.B. Abshure. Jeanne was an amazing cook, and enjoyed canning from the large garden R.B. planted. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress, making most of the clothes her daughters wore in their younger years.

Jeanne even made her grandchildren cabbage patch dolls and placed them in her garden. When the grandchildren would come to visit, she would send them out into the cabbage patch to find their dolls.

Jeanne loved going to the jubilee with R.B. and listening to the music. After R.B. retired, the couple loved to travel and vacation. Jeanne loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren, and after R.B. became ill, Jeanne became his primary caregiver.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Gladys Grider; her husband of 63 years, R.B. Abshure; her siblings, Gordan Grider, Clayton Grider and Buddy Grider; and her grandson, Mike Albin.

Survivors include her son, David Abshure and wife, Gayle; her daughters, Sharon Reynolds and Mona Deason and husband, Doug; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
