Third round of vaccines

I was visiting with an area physician this weekend and he told me he thought the COVID situation was bad back in 2020 but it doesn’t hold a candle to what's going on now.

He told horror stories of losing patients to the virus that aren't even 50 years old. He told another story about a patient who needs to be in a COVID ICU bed but after checking there were only two such beds available nationwide, one in Iowa and one in Arizona.

But after hospital officials in those two places heard his patient was already in a hospital they cancelled their invitations.

All of the patients he was referring to were unvaccinated.

He also made the comment that his clinic went two months without having a single COVID patient, thinking we had kicked the pandemic to the curb.

But unvaccinated people have given the bug resurgence and it is running rampant, far outdistancing the first wave.

Cleveland County and possibly others are following the CDC guidelines and offering a third dose of the vaccine to immunocompromised individuals.

The guidelines include but are not limited to patients who are receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood.

•Receive an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system.

•Received a stem cell transplant within the last two years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system.

•Having moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency.

•Having an advanced or untreated HIV infection or active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress immune response.

People are encouraged to talk to their primary care physician.

There are countless Americans that are scared to death over in Afghanistan who are outside the Kabul Airport security and cannot get past the Taliban.

One woman, who reports she has given up hope to ever see her children again, said there are 20 Taliban checkpoints between where she is hiding and the airport.

Their lives are in grave danger and it all because of the administration’s handling of the pull out of American Troops in that country.

Why in the world did the Biden Administration not have all the people safely out of the country prior to pulling our troops is the $64,000 question.

And my last question for “President What Day Is It” is why did you shut down the Keystone Pipeline and then turn around and ask Saudi Arabia to produce more oil for us to buy?
