Support for Michaela

Posted

Prayers and donations are needed for Michaela Powers, who was critically injured in a two vehicle traffic accident in Asher January 21.

Michaela is married to 2012 Purcell High School graduate Kyle Powers and was employed at the Chickasaw Nation Health Clinic at the time she was involved in a head-on crash around 6 p.m.

According to Michaela’s aunt, Valee Colburn, Michaela had only worked for the Chickasaws for about a month and had not qualified for insurance there, short term disability or paid leave of any kind.

In speaking with Kyle, he reports the couple does have insurance but any donations would be welcome to help offset the enormous medical bills that are mounting up and will continue through the rehabilitation process and beyond.

Michaela suffered two broken legs, a broken arm, multiple fractures to her right ankle and a fractured sternum among other serious injuries.

I spoke with the investigating Asher Police Officer who was actually at the scene when the accident happened.

He said Michaela is one tough cookie.

All the while she was pinned in her Mini Cooper she was not making sounds, just taking the pain, Brian Moore reported.

A nurse who works with Michaela at the health clinic was in the vehicle behind her, her aunt reported to The Register.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Michaela so donations may be made that way.

The address is https://www.gofundme.com/f/michaela-powers-recovery-rehabilitation.

According to Kyle’s father, Rodney Powers, the couple was in the process of closing on a house in Ada.

Prayers are needed for the Powers family and for those who feel compelled, they need monetary donations as well.

Michaela has already had several surgeries and additional procedures are possible.

She is in for a long rehab.

She and Kyle need all the support they can get.
