A memorial service for Steven Perry, 66, was held Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mr. Perry was born on August 28, 1954 in Purcell, Okla., to Ross Conrad Perry and Joyce Marlene Edwards. He grew up in Purcell, attending school there, and graduating with the Dragon class of 1972.

In 1984 he married Patricia Carson and together they had one son, Charles. Early in his life he was a manager for TG&Y before joining the oil field workforce. He earned a degree for mud engineering and owned and operated 1st Safety for three years. Steve worked on numerous lands and offshore rigs, specializing in safety and training. He worked for Murphy Oil for nearly twenty years as a senior production safety and training specialist.

In 2008 a new adventure began when Steve and his son, Charles, bought and operated the Sweat Shop gym in Lexington, Okla. They enjoyed working side by side and did so until they sold the gym earlier this year. Steve enjoyed time outdoors with a fishing pole in hand. He loved spending time with his grandkids, his friends, and family. A good hand of poker or a trip with loved ones was hard to beat.

Steve never missed a chance to dress up for Halloween, and enjoyed attending bike rallies. The last four years he cherished time spent with his girlfriend and companion, Ruthie Bethers.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ross Perry and Joyce Edwards.

He is survived by his brother, David Perry and wife, Martha; son, Charles Perry and wife, Misty, and their children, Brooklynn, Ethan, Casen, and Harper.
