On Monday night, Lexington (8-4) walked off their field after a tough loss to Heritage Hall, 4-3.
“We didn’t capitalize on some of our opportunities and our bats didn’t really come alive until the fifth inning,” head coach Monty Ervin said.
Junior Brodie Anderson was in the circle for Lexington. She fanned 10 batters and threw 65% strikes.
“This was a pitchers dual. And, we had some tough errors that gave them the opportunity to score.”
Heritage Hall was up 4-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. Lexington scored three runs on an Anderson double. But, that wasn’t enough to come away with the win.
Anderson, Kora Parker, Chloe Becker and Peyton Harmon accounted for Lexington’s four hits.
Davenport
Last Friday, Lexington picked up an 11-7 win over Davenport.
“We swung the bats well in that win. We had some line drives hit into double plays that kept us in check, but that’s going to happen.”
The Lady ‘Dawgs finished the game with 15 hits. Anderson and Baylee Rillema each had three while Lexie Torres and Parker had two apiece.
Holdenville
Last Tuesday, Lexington beat Holdenville 16-1. They amassed 17 hits in the lopsided win, including three each from Torres, Rillema and Peyton Harmon. Anderson, Parker and Mackenzie Manuel each had two hits. Parker had a home run in the fifth inning.
“Holdenville is a young team and this is a rebuilding year after losing their pitcher,” Ervin said.
The Lady Bulldogs were traveling to Jones on Tuesday for another district contest.
They will be in the Southwest Shootout starting Thursday. Lexington plays host Sterling at 9 a.m.
Lady Bulldog notes
Coach Ervin made note of juniors Mackenzie Manuel and Kora Parker. Manuel, through three games, has three hits and five RBIs. Parker has five hits, including a home run against Holdenville, and three RBIs.
