A long-time employee of the McClain County Conservation District in Purcell recently received a huge honor at the annual meeting of the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts (OACD) in Oklahoma.

At the 85th annual OACD Legislative Banquet Patti Christian was named the state’s Employee of the Year Award.

Christian has worked in the McClain County Conservation District office for 30 years and is the District Manager.

The Purcell Register reached out to OACD authorities but were unable to reach them either be email or telephone.

Mrs. Christian said she has no idea who nominated her or what the criteria is.

“I guess just be a good employee for 30 years,” she said with a chuckle.

“It was a big surprise and quite an honor. I was very, very surprised,” she said.

The mission of the OACD is: To provide leadership, resources and partnership opportunities for conservation districts and those who manage the land to enhance our natural resources for a better Oklahoma.

The banquet was held in late February at the Embassy Suites in Edmond.
