Graveside Services for Shelly Kennedy, 54, of Washington were held Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Washington Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
Ms. Kennedy passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Norman Regional Healthplex.
Karen Michelle Kennedy was born November 3, 1971 in Norman, Okla., the younger of two children born to Charles Ray Kennedy Sr. and Caroline Louise (Perry) Kennedy.
She was raised in Washington and attended school there, graduating with the Warriors Class of 1990. Shelly married young to Darrell Tyler, and to this union, a son Chris was born.
Shelly studied to be a 1st responder, and became a Licensed EMT Practitioner. She loved her work and excelled, earning many certifications and this served her well in her career. Shelly taught 1st responders at the vo-tech and worked for Wadley’s Ambulance Service before medically retiring after injuring her back.
Away from work, she enjoyed sewing and embroidery, and she shared her many talents with her family and friends. She loved listening to her favorite pod casts, and never missed a good crime show. In spite of her medical challenges, Shelly continued to care for and support her family, moving back home to be closer to her parents. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ray Kennedy Sr. in June of 2025.
Shelly is survived by her son, Chris Tyler and wife, Julia, of Blanchard; her mother, Caroline Kennedy of the home; brother, Charles Kennedy Jr. of Washington; her pride and joy, grandchildren, Kingston, Claire and Titus and a host of other family and friends.
