Posted

The news Purcell school superintendent Dr. Sheli McAdoo brought to the board at Monday’s monthly meeting was all good.

McAdoo ticked off athletic accomplishments to date in what she described as “an excellent November for the Dragons.”

The cross country boys came home from state with the title Academic State Champions.

Cheer won a bid to Class 4A State Cheer Game Day and made a great showing, she said.

Meanwhile, the high school  academic team had a great win over Tuttle to win regionals.

At the junior high, a Vex Robotic competition was held while the high school honored veterans in a “stellar”assembly.

McAdoo reminded the board the first high school basketball game will be November 29 against Washington.

A Country Comedy program showcased the talent of choirs at the junior high and high school and fourth and fifth graders put on great musical performances.

The superintendent also noted that Thanksgiving break will be Monday through November 25.

In personnel action, the board accepted the following resignations/retirements:

Chase Vickrey and Kenzie Cunnius resigned from extra duty assignments.

Rachel Barnett is resigning effective December 19 and Kerri Howell’s retirement will be effective January 1.

New hires approved were Erica Estrada, part-time custodian at the junior high, and Lilia Resendez, after school cleaning at the elementary school.
