Glen was born June 23, 1925, in Cement, Oklahoma, to W.C and Myrtle (Karnes) Clift. He was raised and attended school in Cement.

Glen was inducted into the United States Army on May 9, 1945. On October 1, 1945, he married the love of his life, Gearldene Cotton in Cement, Oklahoma. They traveled in their motor home to almost every state, while enjoying spending time with other square-dancers.

The couple were longtime members of the Lexington First Baptist Church. For them both, Church and Family always came first. They raised their children and kept up with their sports activities, always trying to make every game. Glen also enjoyed raising hogs, camping, and fishing.
