Regionals at Washington

Perry, Chisholm, Jones in town today for baseball

Posted

The Washington Warrior baseball team will host the Regional tournament today (Thursday).

The Warriors play Jones at 11 a.m., followed by Perry and Chisholm at 1:30 p.m.

Chisholm and Perry both have over 20 wins this season.

“This week will take all of us (as a team),” Warrior head coach Jeff Kulbeth said. “We do it as a team. If a guy picks up a hit, then another guy follows with one and we’ll get things done.”

District tournament

The Warriors earned wins of 14-1 and 14-0 in their District games against Millwood.

Canon Stewart started the first game on the mound and struck out eight batters in three innings.

Jake Wells came on in relief and retired the final three batters via strikeout. Wells also hit a double at the plate.

Kade Norman went 2-2 with a walk and scored three times.

Mayson Thomas was 1-2 with a double and knocked in three RBIs.

Cam Bates was 1-2 with a double.

Sutton Moore and Norman handled the pitching duties in the second game. The pair combined for seven Ks over three innings over the short-handed Falcons.

Stewart led the team with four RBIs and went 2-3 at the dish.

Blanchard

Washington played Blanchard last Tuesday and came out on the short end of a 3-2 final.

“We played well and a couple base-running mistakes cost us,” Kulbeth said. “We pitched it well in a one-hitter.”

Tristin Babbitt got the start on the mound and had four strikeouts.

Thomas and Bates came on in relief. The Warrior staff only allowed one Blanchard hit the entire game.

Nate Roberts and Reese Stephens had an RBI each in the game.

Overall, the coach was pleased with his team’s performance.

“If we play that kind of baseball we’ll be good to go from here on out,” Kulbeth said.

The Warriors are 26-0 and finished District play a perfect 12-0.
