Posted

The thunderstorm that rumbled through the Heart of Oklahoma Sunday evening dumped 1.8” of rain in Purcell hiking the total for the year-to-date here to 28.40”.

That compares to Oklahoma City at Will Rogers World Airport that has recorded 22.08” so far this year. Normal year-to-date rainfall is 20.54”.

The wet summer has pushed this year’s total rainfall in Purcell ahead of last year when 27.8” had been recorded.

Until this last rain, the area had been lagging behind last year’s total.

The rain was a bit spotty with Pauls Valley topping Purcell recording 1.86”. However, Byars recorded .22” and Washington, .14”, both according to the Oklahoma Mesonet.

Normal hot temperatures around 100 degrees are forecast for next week.
