Wayne homecoming Friday

There’s a real dog fight shaping up Friday in Wayne as the hometown favorite Bulldogs take on the Stratford Bulldogs for homecoming.

To get the Wayne supporters in the mood, there will be a parade at 2 p.m.

Coronation of the homecoming queen and king from a field of seniors will be at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Queen candidates are Mikaela Hickman, Mallory Sharp and Jayda Vaught. Attending them will be Faith Brazell, a junior, and sophomore Morgan Cross.

The king candidates are Taylen Bryant, Lane Jones, Rhett Kennedy and Kaleb Madden.

Hickman is on the principal’s honor roll and is a member of Book Club and Student Council. She is also captain of the cheer squad. She is the daughter of Misty Greenfield and Jacob Hickman.

Sharp is on the principal’s honor roll and is a basketball manager. She is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society. She is also an aide in physical education. Her parents are Jennifer and Brandon Sharp.

Vaught is a water girl. She is the daughter of Justina Towery and Danny Towery.

Brazell plays softball and was Athlete of the Month, All-Conference as a freshman and sophomore. She is a member of Book Club, Student Council and NHS. Her parents are Jennifer Womack and Mark Brazell.

Cross is a cheerleader and plays basketball. She is a member of Book Club and the yearbook staff. Her parents are Shea Cross and Nathan Cross.

Bryant is in Student Council and also plays football, baseball and basketball. He was Most Improved Player in baseball as a freshman and also specialized in 3-point shots in basketball that same year. He is the son of Amy Richardson and Chase Bryant.

Jones plays football and baseball. He is the son of Brian and Crystal Jones.

Kennedy plays football and baseball. He is the recipient of Bulldog Pride Awards in both sports. In addition, he was Most Valuable Player and led the state in stolen bases in baseball. His parents are Sara Covan and Greg Kennedy.

Madden is a member of NHS and plays basketball, football and baseball. In baseball, he was named MVP and Pitcher of the Year. He also had the highest batting average. He has been both Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year in basketball and is ranked Vype Top 100 Player in the state in football. His parents are Kim Madden and Calvin Madden.

The youngest members of the royal court are Rhett Boles, crown bearer, and Swayze Sharp, flower girl.

Rhett loves the outdoors, especially fishing, camping and boating, as well as playing with his two dogs. He is the son of Justin and Krista Boles.

Swayze collects feathers and enjoys swimming and fishing. Her parents are Julie and Brian Sharp.
