McClain County Deputies chase fleeing suspect

After a short, high-speed pursuit last Friday afternoon McClain County Sheriff’s Deputies cornered a fleeing suspect in a commercial building south of Dibble.

David Keller was wanted in Cleveland County for aggravated assault and battery and attempted kidnapping involving his ex-wife.

Cleveland County authorities, who asked for assistance about 12:30 p.m., reported Keller was armed and driving a stolen vehicle.

Deputies located the vehicle traveling west on SH 39 a few miles east of Dibble. They attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspect fled.

After he crashed his vehicle on SH 76, he fled on foot into the commercial building. Deputies evacuated all the employees and attempted to initiate communication with the suspect and set up a perimeter.

While attempting to communicate with the suspect deputies heard a gunshot. Using a drone, they checked on the suspect and determined he was suffering from a self-inflicted injury.

Deputies entered the office and began providing medical assistance. The suspect was transported to the hospital where he died from the injury.

There were no other injuries.
