Purcell Homecoming Friday

Coronation ceremony begins at 6 p.m.

Purcell will crown the 2024 basketball homecoming queen Friday night in a ceremony prior to the boys varsity game against Bridge Creek at the Reimer  Center. The girls varsity will play immediately following the boys.

The King and Queen will be announced at the coronation ceremony starting at 6 p.m.

Senior queen candidates are Haven Buchanan, Kenna Esparza, Tinley Winter, Hadleigh Harp, Hannah Whitaker and Brianah Wren.

Senior king candidates are Christian Kirk, Alec Thompson, Brayden Tharp, Kevin Resendiz and Seth Bunch.

The flower girl is Willow Harding while the crown bearer is Thomas Montgomery.

Buchanan is the daughter of Kassi and Ryan Buchanan. She is a member of the Purcell Lady Dragons basketball team. Her honors include NHS, Superintendent’s Honor Roll, Oklahoma Honor Society, 1st team All-Conference, Athlete of the Month and she is a four-year Letter P Award winner.

Esparza is the daughter of Amy Lehman and Manuel Esparza. She is a member of the fast-pitch softball team, basketball team and is in the STUCO. Her awards include principal’s honor roll, Madill Winter Classic two-time MVP, all-tournament team at HOOT, three-time softball All-Conference, three-time basketball All-Conference and was a part of the 2023 state runner-up fast-pitch softball team.

Winters is the daughter of Tevi and Tyler Winters. She is a member of the basketball team and the track team,  Student Council, the Spanish Club and NHS. Her awards include the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, Letter P Award and being ranked #1 in her class.

Harp is the daughter of Zack and Alisha Harp. She is the younger sister of Hayden Harp. She is a member of the softball, basketball and track teams. She is also a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society and the Spanish Club. Her awards include two time State runner-up in softball, All-State Outfielder, 4th place finisher in the 100m at the State track meet, three-time Letter P Award, Superintendent’s Honor Roll, Athlete of the Month, Fast-Pitch All-District and three-time All-Conference in basketball.

Whitaker is the daughter of CJ and Stephanie Whitaker and sister to Cooper. She is an officer in the Student Council, a member of the basketball team, the fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball teams and track team, Spanish Club, and NHS. Her awards include two-time State Fast-Pitch Runner-up, two-time State finisher in Shotput, All-State softball and Superintendent’s Honor Roll.

Wren is the daughter of Amanda Belden and Oscar Wren. She is a four year member of the NHS and the basketball team and members of STUCO and the Spanish Club. Her awards include Superintendent’s Honor Roll, Principal’s Honor Roll, Letter P Award, Honorable Mention on The Oklahomans All-State team, COAC All-Conference Honorable Mention, Big All-City, Rib Crib Athlete Spotlight and Outstanding Scholar of the month.

Kirk is the son of Ciara Register. He is a member of the football, basketball and golf teams and the National Honor Society. His awards include Letter P Award, Superintendent’s Honor Roll and 1st team All-District linebacker.

Thompson is the son of Barry and Kim Thompson. He is a member of Student Council, FCA, the basketball team and the tennis team. His awards include Superintendent’s Honor Roll, Oklahoma’s High School Honor Society, National Honor Society, Letter P Award, Honorary Junior and Academic State champ in basketball.

Tharp is the son of Alexandria and Wesley Tharp. He is a member of the basketball team and the track and field team. His awards include Letter P Award and the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.

Resendiz is the son of Angel Resendiz and Rosa Resendiz. He is a member of the basketball team, Student Council, the Spanish club, Coalition club, National Honor Society and Club Scrubs. His awards include Letter P Award, Superintendent’s Honor Roll, and has his dental assistant license.

Bunch is the son of Sheree and Justin Bunch. He is a member of the basketball team and NHS. His awards include Superintendent’s Honor Roll an the Letter P Award.

Harding is the second grade daughter of Omar Harding and Leigh Ann McGregor. She is the younger sister of Lyric Harding. She enjoys playing softball, basketball and all things Bluey. “When I grow up I want to be a veterinarian,” she said.

Montgomery is the second grade son of John Denny and Emily Montgomery. His hobbies are riding his bike around the neighborhood and playing basketball, baseball and golf. “When I grow up I want to be a professional athlete,” he said.
