Jayden Polk won the Lexington High School Cross Country meet last Thursday with a 5K time of 16:25.
Polk had time to grab a sandwich and a Coke before the second place runner crossed the finish line, some 33 seconds later.
Eighth grader Dylan Caralampio, representing the junior high school, finished second out of 120 runners in that portion of the meet and all three high school girls that competed won medals.
“Our runners traveled across the bridge to compete in the Lexington Invitational and they showed out,” confirmed cross country coach Ray Samford.
Belen Resendiz finished ninth, followed by Kori Doyal, 18th and Lyrik Wilkins, 21st.
