It’s really a shame that America is so politically divided that, as a nation, we can’t even celebrate gold medal performances of our Olympic Athletes.
Like someone said, who cares who is in the White House when the USA wins team championships in both men’s and women’s hockey.
When the USA knocked off Russia in 1980 I don’t recall Republicans not cheering for our team just because Jimmy Carter was in the White House.
In fact, the only thing political that was said after the big upset was when Leonid Brezhnev said that President Carter had ordered the team to win.
Brezhnev was General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union at the time.
Now, because Trump phoned the hockey team and invited them to the State of the Union, some members of his opposing party are not only turned off but many of those elected officials are not going to attend the SOTU – but rather instead attend the “People’s State of the Union” event held near the Lincoln Memorial.
Seems kind of childish.

In the spirit of “all of us make mistakes”, I heard a good one on TV the other day.
There was a weekend anchor on Channel 9 giving a breaking news situation out of Love County.
The very young looking woman said a long investigated case in Love County may have been solved, “when they found Skeletor remains.”
For those who don’t recognize Skeletor, he was a cartoon character back in the early 1980s, who was a super villain and the main antagonist of the Masters of the Universe franchise created by Mattel, serving as the archenemy of his nephew He-Man and usually depicted as a skull-faced, blue-skinned sorcerer.
The young TV announcer may have meant “skeletal remains.”
