After a break during the Thanksgiving week, high school football playoffs continue this weekend.
Washington’s Warriors will collide with the OCS Saints at 7 p.m. Friday at Yukon, a neutral site for the State Semifinals.
Both squads are 11-1 heading into Friday night’s showdown for a slot in the State Finals.
The Saints run a pro style offense with various pre-snap shifts and motions.
“The key for us will be to get adjusted to all their formations,” Warriors Head Coach Brad Beller said.
“We have to get their playmakers on the ground,” he confirmed. “They have big, strong guys that are tough to bring down. And, they have some small speedsters that we will have to contain.”
Crucial for the Warriors to have success is to control the line of scrimmage.
“We have to control the front,” Beller continued. “If we can block them on the perimeter and block up front it will give us the best chance to move the football.”
OCS is a very opportunistic team and have been cashing in on opponents mistakes this season.
About the off week last week, Beller said his team used the time to heal up bumps and bruises.
“We needed the break,” the coach admitted. “Some years you would say oh no lets keep playing but this year we needed the break.
“We didn’t go real physical last week (in practice),” he said. “We let some things heal up.”
