As dry as it is, the 4.05” of rain unofficially recorded in Purcell from last Wednesday through Sunday morning was not enough to break the ongoing drought.
But it sure was better than what we have been getting.
In fact, some residents in the far northern part of Purcell recorded six inches from Wednesday through early Sunday morning.
From January through the end of March, Purcell had recorded 2.85” of rain. From April 1 to April 8 that figure was nearly doubled.
For the year-to-date, Purcell has tallied 6.9” of rain compared to 7.78” for the same time period in 2025.
Byars has been the wet spot this year recording 5.9” last week. Washington received 3.51” while Norman recorded 3.12”.
