Normal Dean Sweet passed peacefully August 23, 2026, in Norman, at the age of 82 years 2 months 25 days. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Normal Dean was born May 29, 1944, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Normal Lee and Reudean Lillie (McPherson) Thompson, and lived a life rich with love, accomplishment, and joy.
A proud 1962 graduate of Norman High School, her long and distinguished career in the banking industry culminated in her role as Vice President at MidFirst Bank, from which she retired in 2010 after over 50 years of dedicated service.
Normal’s passions extended beyond her professional life. She delighted in traveling, shopping, and dancing, and found great joy in gospel quartet singing. Her vibrant spirit shone most brightly when she was surrounded by her family, cherishing time with her grandson and great-grandsons, witnessing their growth with pride and affection.
Known for her generous heart and vivacious nature, Normal brought warmth and love to all who had the fortune to know her. Her legacy of kindness and the joy she spread will be fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Normal Dean was preceded in death by her parents, Normal and Reudean Thompson; her husband, Chuck Sweet; her son, Kevin Friesen; and her sister, Gracie Fowler.
Survivors include her daughters, Karla Standridge and husband, Larry, of Lexington, Okla., and Kristie Sweet of Louisville, Ky.; her grandson, Kevin Standridge and wife, Kim, of Noble, Okla.; her great-grandsons, Kasin Standridge and Koltin Standridge, both of Noble, Okla.; her sisters, Barbara Sheehy, Cheryl Keith, Caryl Flake and husband, John; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family would like to say Thank You to Arbor House Reminisce and Valir Hospice for their care, support, compassion and professionalism for Normal Dean and family.
