Graveside memorial services for Nancy Maynard, 79, will be held at 1 p.m.Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Blanchard Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell and will be livestreamed on the website www.wilsonlittle.com.

The family invites you following the service, to join them at First Baptist Church in Purcell. Come share a dessert and a sweet memory.

Nancy was born Sept. 13, 1943 in Blanchard, Okla., to James M and Margaret Helen Wilson. She lived in Blanchard and then the family moved to Purcell, Okla. Nancy graduated from Purcell High School in 1961. Nancy was very active in HS. She was in the Science club, art club, basketball, state and national honor society, and many other activities.

Ronnie and Nancy started dating in the summer of 1961. Nancy attended Oklahoma State University on scholarship for one year and then returned to her parent’s home. Ronnie and Nancy were married on August 31, 1963. They moved to Oklahoma City into their first home they owned at 825 SW 56th where the monthly payment was $61.50/mo!

After living in Oklahoma City, they moved to Washington, Okla. They had two boys James Dale, born Dec. 20, 1964 and Than Hall, born May 11, 1968. They purchased their final home in Purcell in early 1968; it was here that she passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

She loved construction and especially remodeling their own house (aka directing her husband Ronnie on what to do and what to do over). It should be noted that Ronnie was almost finished remodeling when she passed away on Oct. 05, 2022 at the age of 79 years. Ronnie will soon be finishing the final remodel and we fully expect her to be “guiding” him as he continues his passion of doing what she told him to do.

Nancy obtained her real estate license in 1977. She worked for Velma Barnes Real Estate in Norman, Okla. When Velma Barnes retired Nancy moved her license to Heart of Oklahoma Real Estate in Purcell. She also worked for Paul Frank, CPA of Purcell part time and Centri-lift Hughes in Pauls Valley for a few years. Ronnie and Nancy purchased Heart of Oklahoma Real Estate in 1985 and Nancy became the Broker/Owner of Heart of Oklahoma Real Estate. In 1997, they purchased a franchise and became Coldwell Banker Heart of Oklahoma Real Estate. She worked full time in real estate until her illness weakened her this summer.

Nancy’s lineage traces back the birth of the United States with family fighting for our independence in the American Revolution. She joined DAR (the Daughters of the American Revolution) in 1975; in 2015 Nancy and Ronnie attended the 125th DAR Continental Congress and Nancy was Oklahoma’s state regent. Nancy loved helping friends and family. As an example, for about 10 years Ronnie and Nancy would go over to Washington almost every Sunday morning. She would cook meals for her mother-in-law and family. From approx. 1977 to 2010 she hosted the Maynard Family Thanksgiving meal. She used this annual family event as an excuse to continue her home remodeling as the family grew and as a result she was often able to host more than 80 family members and more than 100 at the peak.

She was also very giving and often went out of her way to help others and worked many years with Habitat for Humanity and was on Habitat’s board from 2010-2016. One of her most beloved and life-long friends told us of the real estate lady who drove them all over Purcell and even into pastures in her Lincoln Continental and then brought them to her home to cook a pork chop dinner for everyone. These California transplants were not sure what to make of Nancy at the time but quickly realized this was a genuine, caring family and they are friends of Ronnie and Nancy to this day.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie; her son, James and his wife, Heidi; son, Than and his wife, Sally; her grandsons, Zach, Evan and Ryan; and her granddaughter, Alexandra and her husband, Nick.
