Purcell Schools in partnership with Missoula Children’s Theatre will present “Hansel and Gretel” March 6 and 7 at the old Purcell Junior High Auditorium, 201 Lester Lane.
Auditions will be held on Monday, March 2, from 3:30-5:30 p.m at the Old Jr. High Auditorium in Purcell, located at 201 Lester Lane. Those auditioning should arrive a little before 3:30 p.m. for check-in and plan to stay for the full two hours.
Some cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the auditions.
Among the roles to be cast are those intrepid adventurers, Hansel and Gretel; their Granny; the Wildwood Witch and her loyal cooks; modern day campers – somehow lost in time in the wood; lots of Rascals - denizens of the deep and a flock of cuddly Wallybirds.
Students, grades K-12, are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.
Students from schools other than Purcell are welcome to audition for a $25 fee that is refundable if the student is not cast.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, and props. The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 3:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. each day.
“Hansel and Gretel” will be presented for the school on Friday, March 6, at 1 p.m. and will be presented for the public on Saturday, March 7, at 3 p.m.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency in Purcell is presented locally by Purcell Public Schools with support from Purcell Public Schools Foundation, the Oklahoma Arts Council and the Holiday Inn who is housing our tour directors.
