McClain County Commissioners Minutes Emergency Session Thursday, January 12, 2026

Board of McClain County Commissioners met in emergency session on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 8:15 a.m. in Room 111 of the McClain County Courthouse. Chairman Wilson Lyles called the meeting to order. County Clerk Rebekah Couch called the roll and those present were: Chairman Wilson Lyles, and Vice Chairman Terry Daniel, and Member Glen Murray.

Terry Daniel moved to declare an emergency meeting due to the tornado that occurred in Purcell on January 8, 2026 as well as the resultant loss of electricity throughout Purcell, including the McClain County Courthouse on January 8, 2026, and January 9, 2026, Glen Murray seconded. Vote Aye: Murray, Lyles, Daniel. Motion carried.

Terry Daniel moved, Glen Murray seconded to grant Purcell Fire Department an exception to the burn ban if the weather condition are favorable to allow for the disposal of storm debris resulting from the January 8, 2026 tornado. Vote Aye: Murray, Lyles, Daniel. Motion carried.

The Board of County Commissioners discussed the loss of electrical power to the courthouse and resultant issues the generator and emergency power systems serving the Courthouse and potential improvements that could be implemented in future circumstances.

With no further business Terry Daniel moved to adjourn at 8:32 a.m., Glen Murray seconded. Vote Aye: Murray, Lyles, Daniel. Motion carried.
