Funeral services for Lon Dean Williams, 88, of Tulsa will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mr. Williams passed away on July 16, 2025.
Lon was born in Lexington, Oklahoma, the only child of Henry Howard “Bo” and Lou Verna (Garner) Williams.
He was raised in Wayne and graduated with the Bulldog class of 1955. After graduation he received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from East Central College in Ada.
Lon married his long-time grade school friend LaNelle Wallace on August 22, 1958 at the Wayne Church of Christ. The Williams’ made their home in Moore, Oklahoma, where they raised their two sons, Keith and Graylon, both of which earned Ph.D.s and are accomplished in their fields.
Lon worked for many years as a Research Laboratory Technician for the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
Lon and LaNelle shared a love for the outdoors and spent much of their free time camping all over the US and Canada. They loved spending time together nurturing their vegetable garden. Lon enjoyed fishing, photography, woodworking, visiting family, sporting events, and school and church socials.
Lon and LaNelle were longtime members of the Moore Central Church of Christ, where Lon served as a deacon for many years. Lon was an amazing husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. He is greatly missed.
Lon was preceded in death by his wife, LaNelle Williams and his parents, Bo and Lou Williams.
He is survived by his sons, Keith Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Graylon Williams and wife, Karyn, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Reid Williams and Kalina Williams; and a host of recent and old friends.
