McClain County and the other 10 counties in Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 3 has a new commissioner. But she isn’t new to Purcell.
Purcell’s own Lisa J. Billy has been appointed to replace T.W. Shannon in that position.
Billy was appointed by Oklahoma Speaker of the House Kyle Hilbert. Shannon’s resignation was official in April.
ODOT Executive Director Tim Gantz and the other commissioners welcomed Billy during their May 5 meeting.
Gantz said Billy has a distinguished legislative career in the Oklahoma Legislature as well as the Chickasaw Tribal Legislature and will represent the 11 district counties of Southcentral Oklahoma.
Other counties include Garvin, Johnston, Cleveland, Hughes, Coal, Seminole, Lincoln, Pontotoc, Okfuskee and Pottawatomie.
