A local nursing home has been listed in the top 10 nursing homes in the State of Oklahoma by Newsweek Magazine.

According to Newsweek, Lexington Nursing Home has come in at No. 10 in Oklahoma for nursing homes with 50-99 certified beds.

Lexington’s facility has 70 certified beds.

Administrator Rick Horton reports the facility currently has 73 employees including 50 full-time employees.

“It’s not me that got the award, it’s all my employees,” Horton said. “It takes a village.”

Owner of the nursing home is Doc Lawson.

Newsweek’s America Best Nursing Homes 2027 ranking, developed in partnership with Statista, recognizes facilities across the country based on a range of quality measures.

To account for differences in facility size, the results are broken down into three categories: small, medium and large beds.

The ranking provides a resource for those researching nursing home options, highlighting facilities that demonstrate strong performance within their respective size  categories and offering a starting point for families navigating this important choice.

America’s Best Nursing Homes 2027 highlights 1,325 of the nation’s top nursing homes out of 14,693 analyzed.

The evaluation is based on the following four pillars: performance data, peer recommendations, accreditations and satisfaction.

Nursing homes in all U.S. states, plus the District of Columbia, were considered in the study.

Included are single branches of nursing homes with at least 50 certified beds, which are not part of the Specialty Focus Facility (SFF) program, the report said.

The survey data was collected from June to August 2026 online from experts from all over the country.

Email verification was required and self-recommendation was not permitted.

The only other nursing home in this part of the state that was mentioned was Artesian Home in Sulphur, who came in ninth.
