The Lexington Lady Bulldogs moved their record to 17-6 (8-2 in District) with a 2-1 win over Morris on senior night.
Tuesday they were in Prague and Thursday they host Henryetta to round out their regular season schedule.
“This team is confident. We won’t give up much offensively. We’ll have to generate our offense and rise above,” head coach Monty Ervin said.
The top two teams in their district will host Regionals next Thursday and Friday. Assignments will be out over the weekend.
“We just have to take care of business the way we know we can.
“We can’t just give it way, but we have to let the chips fall where they may.”
Last week Lexington dropped a game with Bethel, 11-1, and picked up a win over Holdenville, 11-0, on Wednesday.
Morris
They collected three hits in the win, led by Lexie Torres’ two from the lead off spot. She also had one of Lexington’s two ribbies. Kora Parker had the other when she drew a walk in the sixth to score the go-ahead run.
Briley Lacquement was in the circle for the win. She recorded 21 of Lexington’s outs and fanned twelve batters.
“This was a pitchers’ duel. We didn’t swing it well, but we scratched out a run when we had to.
“Morris is a good ball club so this was a good win,” Ervin said.
Bethel
Lexington got on the board in the top of the first inning when Mackenzie Manuel singled to score their only run.
Bethel scored seven runs in the third inning on three hits. They added to their lead with four more runs in the sixth.
Lacquement was in the circle for five and two-thirds innings. She struck out three while allowing 11 runs (one earned) on 10 hits.
The Lady ‘Dawgs had six hits in the loss – one each from Merabelle Nielson, Brodie Anderson, Manuel, Lacquement, Cote Garver and Gracie White.
Holdenville
Wednesday was a makeup game with Holdenville where Lexington got the shutout win, 11-0.
Anderson was in command in the circle for all five innings of the no-hitter. She fanned 13 batters and walked one.
Nielson led the team with three hits, singling in the first, third and fourth innings. Manuel, Lacquement, Charlie Ross and Peyton Harmon each had two hits. Torres and Anderson had one apiece.
