As of press time, Lexington had a 7-1 district record and was sitting in first place with games with Chandler, Little Axe and Purcell on tap.

On Monday Lexington sent their seniors out in winning fashion with a 16-2 win over Meeker on Senior Night.

An insurance run crossed the plate in the bottom of the third for Lexington.

They finished the game with 16 hits and 14 RBIs.

Three long balls left the park for Lexington off the bats of KK, Brodie Anderson and Pack.

Over the weekend, Lexington was in the Sterling tournament along with 26 other teams.

“We swung the bat well during the tournament, but our work in the circle isn’t going well,” head coach Monty Ervin said.

Sterling tournament

In their first game, Lexington fell in walk-off fashion to Lawton Eisenhour, 5-4, a 5A team.

According to the Ervin, Ike has a top 10 pitcher and he was proud of how the girls played against the tough 5A team.

“In our losses during this tournament we were right there, but we hit hard balls right at the defense.”

Lex had five hits in the loss, including a homerun from Cora in the third.

Game two was a 12-0 win over Hydro.

Bats were hot for Lexinton, as they scored 12 runs on 10  hits and 10 ribbies.

Kora had multiple hits and Cora had three RBIs.

Lexington got another win over Lookeba-Sickles, 4-0.

They scored one run in the second and three more in the third.

Pack pitched, striking out three and giving up just one hit.

The Lady ‘Dawgs racked up seven hits, including two from KK and Maison Sissney. Cora, Kieley Givens and Kora Parker had one apiece.

Another shut out win for Lexington as they beat Central 13-0.

It took 12 hits and 12 RBIs to score their 13 runs.

A 4-3 loss to Cyril knocked the Lady ‘Dawgs out of the tournament.

Lexington faced a familiar situation with the game tied at 3-3. A Lady Pirate singled to score the winning Cyril run.

Despite the loss, Lexington outhit Cyril 8-7. Parker had two hits while Pack and Cora each had one.

Givens homered in the 5th inning.

Ervin had praise for Givens, saying she’s really coming around at the plate for Lexington.

Bethel

Last Tuesday, Lexington was on the road at Bethel for a tough district game.

They came away with the 6-2 victory on 10 hits and six RBIs.

Pack and KK had two hits each while Anderson, Givens, McKenzie Manuel, Sissney, Sample and Baylee Rillema had one each.

Coming up for the Lexington Lady Bulldogs is a sort of gauntlet to finish out district play.

Tuesday night they were headed to Chandler and tonight (Thursday) they are in Pauls Valley.

Friday night Lexington will be in Little Axe for a makeup game with the Lady Indians.

Monday night the Lady ‘Dawgs have a date across the bridge with the Purcell Dragons then they play host to Little Axe again on Tuesday.

“This is new territory for this team and how we respond will determine how we play.

“We’ve put in the work and so far we’re a little ahead of where I thought we could be at this point in the season. The next seven days will be tough. It’s ours to lose.”
