A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Janie Price, 73, of Blanchard was held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Washington Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Price passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Janie Roena Crockett was born July 15, 1949, in Artesia, New Mexico, the second of five children born to John William Crockett and Opal Roena (Majors) Crockett. Janie was raised in New Mexico, graduating from Dexter High School with the Class of 1967.

She moved to Oklahoma to attend college at Murray State College in Tishomingo. It was there she met her soul mate, Lewis Wayne Price, and later married on May 22, 1969. Janie then attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Education. They settled near Cole, where together they raised their only son, Tony.

Janie started her teaching career in Purcell, before taking some time away to stay home with Tony. She worked in the Treasurer’s Office at McClain Courthouse for a few years, but her heart was still in the classroom.

Mrs. Price taught for over 30 years at Lexington Public Schools. She cherished many memories and the relationships built with staff, students, and their families. She simultaneously worked as a clerk for the Town of Cole, a position she held as recently as a few months ago.

Away from work, Janie was tending to her flower gardens, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be forever remembered as an excellent cook, and particularly for her baking, and she looked forward to sharing Christmas sweets with friends and neighbors. She was a wonderful wife and mother, nana, sister, aunt, and a true friend, who will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Opal Crockett; brothers, Johnny Crockett and Billy Munce Crockett; sister, Roseanne Crockett and sister-in-law, Jackie Crockett.

Janie is survived by her husband, Lewis Wayne Price of the home; son, Tony Price and wife, Jill, of Blanchard; brother, Tom Crockett and wife, Sue, of Clarksville, Ark.; sister-in-law, Carole Crockett of Suffern, New York; her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Jackson, Ryane and Gunner; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
