James Howard Thompson

James Howard Thompson, 74, passed away in his home in Spavinaw, Okla., on December 20, 2021 from a heart attack.

Jim, a former resident of Purcell, Okla., was born Jan. 7, 1947 in Altus, Okla., to Albert Thompson and Geneva Coats Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Darrell Thompson and Charles Thompson.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Thompson and wife, Xochit Thompson; daughter, Rebecca Thompson and husband,  Geoff Boyd; daughter, Tracey McCrackin and husband, Kyle McCrackin; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a large number of extended family and friends.

During the 1960s Jim was in the Army and served in Germany and then spent many years as a salesman, later working at Pearson’s Lumber Company in Lexington.

He was a member of the Purcell Masonic Lodge and he especially enjoyed participating in cooking for fund-raising meals. Jim was a great talker and enjoyed meeting new people. He will be missed by family and friends and by Bella, his sweet dog.

A family memorial service is pending.
