Happy anniversary to my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Missy and Mike Clark of Midwest City.

They celebrate their 42nd anniversary Wednesday, May 26.

I have to give a shout-out to Rick Colwell of Purcell!

He brought by a bag of sweet Vidalia onions for me since he reads my recipes all the time and knows I like to cook.

How nice of him! I will certainly put them to good use!

The last days of school in the Heart of Oklahoma were last week.

Crosswalks and neighborhood streets will be filled with children celebrating the beginning of summer.

The message is simple: Motorists - Put down the phone, stay alert and watch out for these precious, vulnerable children.

The Purcell Register will be closed on Monday, May 31, in observance of Memorial Day.

The office will be open at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning and all deadlines will remain the same.

The Purcell Public Library will hold a Book Discussion of The Other Wes Moore

The virtual event  will be held on Thursday, June 10, from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Join in the discussion of the  2021 PLS Reads book The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore.

This is a virtual program and registration is required by calling 405-527-5546 or online at mcpioneerlibrarysystem.org.

Save the date for the annual Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

The banquet will be held Thursday, May 27, at Southwind Hills in Goldsby. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Bring your kids, and family to the Purcell Walk The Trail Day from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5.

On tap for the day will be free hotdogs, free snow cones, a free collectors map, free collector completion ribbon, fun games, and vendor booths.

The trail is a new addition to Purcell Lake, and is an easy one mile loop that includes beautiful views, things for the kids and a new bathroom facility.

The Knights of Columbus of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church will hold its annual Beast Feast Saturday, June 26.

The event will be held in the parish hall at Fourth and Jefferson in Purcell.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person, $30 per couple and $40 for a family.

All proceeds go to Knights of Columbus Community Projects.

I made this Sunday and it was so good! Can’t wait to make it again.

Slow Cooker Barbecue Boneless Chicken Thighs

4-5 boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1/4 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

1/4 tsp. garlic power

1/4 tsp. paprika

1/2 TBL butter for each thigh

1-3/4 cup barbecue sauce

2 TBL Dijon mustard

1 tsp. Worcestershire

Combine the salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika in a small bowl. Sprinkle the thighs with the spice combination.

Put thighs in the bottom of your slow cooker. Put the butter on each thigh.

Combine bbq sauce, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Pour over chicken.

Cook on high for  3-4 hours.
