August 4, 1979 in Norman at noon was just about as hot as you can get. I can’t remember why we decided that was a good time of day to get married.
Forty-seven years has gone by fast!

With nothing but hot temperatures in the forecast for the near future, I thought a salad would be a good choice. It comes from my dear friend, the late Eulene Webster.
Seven Layer Salad
Layer of lettuce, about 1 inch
Small bunch of broccoli, chopped, stem off
Red onion rings
Bacon, 1 lb., fried crisp, crumbled
Box of frozen English peas
Layer each of the ingredients in order.
Cover with shredded cheese followed by 8 oz. Hellman’s mayonnaise.
Cover with plastic and refrigerate overnight.
