All the political commercials you hear on television is candidates bragging about acquiring an endorsement from President Trump and that they will stand with Trump.
The ads say they will keep the border secure, deport undocumented, lower the income tax and get rid of the property tax.
What you never hear is how they plan to make up the loss of revenue to fund state government.
And, what border does Oklahoma have?
Sure we border Texas to the south and west, Arkansas and Missouri to the east, Kansas to the north, and Colorado and New Mexico to the west along its panhandle.
I’m wondering which of those borders need monitoring.
The point is, our problem is funding education.
The number one thing they should be talking about and running on the premise to improve is Oklahoma’s nation-wide ranking in education.
It’s an embarrassment and a travesty to the youth of our state for their to be such a discrepancy in the amount of money allocated for education.
I was talking to veteran educator Craig McVay at last weekend’s Oklahoma Press Association Convention.
McVay was a long-time superintendent at El Reno and he has a plan to improve education.
He said at one time Oklahoma was ranked 49th in roads and bridges.
The funding was moved from the legislature to ODOT engineers and the Sooner State went from 49th to 14th in a few short years.
McVay told me he has a similar eight point plan for education.
It sounds like a plan.
The only problem for McVay he’s a Democrat and they don’t have the votes like in the early days of our state up until the last 30 years or so.

I’m wondering if Mike Morgan at channel 4 has ever heard the story about the little boy who cried wolf.
You know how it goes.
The boy cried wolf, wolf and the towns people rushed to his aid a couple of times.
Then when there actually was a wolf and he cried for help no one came.
Mike and Channel 4 have been predicting rain day after day for a couple of weeks now.
Guess what? wolf, wolf.
