House of Freedom Church, located at Sixth and Washington (122 N. 6th) across the southeast corner from McCurdy Park will be serving a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings to any and everyone November 26.

Pastor Bo Keener reports the doors will open at 6 p.m. with the food being served at 6:30 p.m.

In addition to the free dinner, the church is having a food drive to assist needy families during the government shut down and the loss of SNAP benefits.

John and Trisha Barker are spearheading the food drive on behalf of the House of Freedom of Purcell, OK., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing for families in need within the community.

“In these challenging times, the demand for our services is greatly needed,” the Barkers said. “We are committed to ensuring no individual in our community goes hungry. To achieve this, we need the support of generous donors.

“We are currently organizing a food drive aimed at collecting Thanksgiving dinner items to distribute to those in need,” they continued. “Your contribution of food items can make a substantial difference in the lives of many families.”

The Barkers said they are specifically in need of canned veggies, dressing/stuffing, potatoes both whole and instant but they will gladly welcome any and all other donations.

“Your support will not only help us provide essential nutrition but also bring hope and a sense of community to those we serve,” the Barkers said.

“We believe in the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together for a common cause,” they said.
