McClain County Operation Christmas is currently in desperate need of food donations, said Operation Christmas organizer Peggy Christian.
“With so many McClain County residents not getting their SNAP benefits, or receiving half of the benefits due, Operation Christmas will be filling more requests for food than in years past,” Mrs. Christian said.
Suggested food donations include spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, canned ham, instant potatoes, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, vegetables, macaroni and cheese, rice, dry pinto beans, canned fruit, canned chicken and ramen noodles.
Donations of not only food, but toys, clothing, toiletries, books, school supplies and more are currently being accepted.
Donations can be dropped off at The Purcell Register, Family Dollar in Wayne, Dollar General in Purcell, Dollar General in Woody Chapel, the Purcell Public Library, Pride Popcorn and Tri-City in Newcastle.
Donations will be accepted through noon on Monday, December 15.
And as always, McClain County Operation Christmas accepts monetary donations.
Monetary donations may be sent to Darrell Ford at P.O. Box 756, Purcell, OK 73080.
For questions about Operation Christmas or to volunteer call Mrs. Christian at 405-990-4001 or Gale Wilson at 405-250-8316.
