First grade chefs on cooking Thanksgiving turkey

Posted

Two first Purcell first graders from each class at Purcell Elementary were recently interviewed by The Purcell Register as to how to prepare the Thanksgiving turkey and what they might serve along side the bird.

Markee Jacks

“You put it in a frying pan for 20 minutes. Put salt and pepper on it but no stuffing. I would also have mashed potatoes and that’s all.”

Bowen Nicklas

“Put it in the oven on the bottom and heat it up for 10 minutes at 60 degrees. I would also want mashed potatoes, chicken, bread and pepperoni pizza.”

Tucker Clary

“My Dad would shoot a turkey because he’s a hunter. We would cook it with cheeseburgers. You put it in the stove at 30 degrees. Usually my Mom cooks them in the oven. I would also want carrots, biscuits and pumpkin pie.”

Kimber Mathis

“We might go to my Nanna’s house. That’s where we usually go. You put it in the oven for 20 minutes at 20 degrees. I would also want smashed potatoes, carrots, biscuits, green beans and pumpkin pie.”

Drake Carr

“You put it in the oven and put pepper on it. You cook it for 30 minutes at 30 degrees. I would also want green beans, corn dogs and pumpkin pie.”

Lucia Williams

“My Mom put it in the oven for 10 minutes.” She didn’t have any idea about the temperature of the oven. “I would also have mashed potatoes, grapes and ice cream.”

Maddison Meskimen

“You put it in the oven for 10 minutes at 100 degrees. I would also want mashed potatoes, carrots, rolls and apple pie.”

Izayah McCalip

“I would cook it and put it on a plate. You cook it in the oven or on the grill. You cook it for 20 minutes on low. I would also like to have chicken sweets with mustard. I would put vegetables around the turkey and have cinnamon rolls for dessert.”

Kade Meigs

“Usually you put it in the oven for 10 or 12 minutes or maybe seven degrees. I would also have stuffing, bones, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, carrots, cranberries and ice cream for dessert.”

Karrah Allen

“I would cook it good. You put it in the oven for seven hours at 6 degrees. I would also have bread, salad, peaches and pumpkin pie.”
