One person was injured and a structure was a total loss in a structure fire that was reported at 5:47 p.m. last Monday at 910 W. Grant in Purcell.

A pickup was also destroyed in the blaze.

Renter Earl McCormik was transported by Wadley’s EMS to OU Medical for treatment of injuries sustained in the fire.

When firemen arrived at the scene, the structure was fully involved.

Fire Chief Greg Cypert had command at the scene.

Firefighters deployed two cross lays off Engine 21 for attack lines.

Engine 22 caught the hydrant on the corner of West Grant and Luglena Lane. The hydrant was out of service and not marked, according to the official report.

Assistant Chief Rocky Claunch tried the hydrant at West Grant and North Ninth and it too was out of service and not marked.

Firemen then went back to the station to bring in a second tanker.

The building and its contents were a total loss.

Purcell Electric arrived on scene and cut the power to the building.

According to the report the house was owned by Thomas Crossno of Purcell.

Firefighters cleared the scene at 7:38 p.m.

The cause of the blaze was determined to be a mechanical failure or malfunction.
