Mr. Wohlschlegel passed away at his home on January 23, 2023.

Elton Roy Wohlschegel was born the baby of four in Wichita, Kansas, on August 25, 1937 to George Wohlschlegel and Mary Wohlschlegel (Esslinger). He grew up in the Wichita area and attended school there, graduating with the Wichita East High School class of 1955.

After school he joined the workforce at a Chevrolet dealership and then at Boeing for a time. He married Donna Dorrah and was blessed with two sons, Craig and Jeff. He farmed for a time with his uncles, before moving to Oklahoma City.  At this time, he was working for Sherman Machine and Iron Works.

He later married Cathy Tiry Frye and her son, Richard, and they later welcomed a daughter, Tamera. Elton became an independent contractor working on water treatment plants and did that until retirement. Later in life he reconnected with Cheryl Hinkle.  They were married in April of 1999 and two families became one. They made their home in Lexington and Elton loved the country life.

He spent most days tinkering on tractors and working on well houses for family and friends. He was an avid Sooners fan and watched any game he could. Elton was a faithful member of Truth Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed growing in faith there. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.  He will be dearly missed.

Elton was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Wohlschlegel; granddaughter, Kori Wohlschlegel; his wife, Cathy Wohlschlegel; parents, George and Mary Wohlschlegel and his siblings, Claude Wohlschlegel and Georgiann Fromm.
