By winning the I-35 Classic Tournament last Saturday, Purcell hiked its 2025 season record to 4-5.

The Dragons run-ruled their way through the bracket crushing Stratford 9-1, Wynnewood, 8-0 and in the finals pinning a 15-0 shutout victory on Wayne.

“Overall I was pleased in this tournament the way we came out and played,” head coach Cole Sharp said. “We played loose and relaxed and had fun doing it.  The kids are excited to go down to the Southeast Shootout and go compete and have a good time.”

In the Shootout, the Dragons were slated to play at Idabel on Monday and at Battiest on Tuesday and Wednesday against Duncan and Plainview respectively.

They will host Chandler Monday.

In the finals of the I-35 tourney, Cash Cook led the 11-hit attack going 3-3 with four RBIs and scored three times.

Kash Knowles, Bryson Perkins and Casey Billingsley all had two hits in the contest.

Parker Page and Brody Walkup combined to toss a perfect game. Page got the start and the win striking out four in two innings of work. Walkup pitched for an inning, striking out a pair of Bulldogs.

“ I was pleased  with both of them competing on the mound and challenging the hitters,” Sharp said.

“We hit the ball really well. I thought that was our best hitting game of the season.   We are also running the bases really well. We have great team speed and we put a lot of pressure on the opponent once we get on the base paths, ” Sharp said.

Cash Cook went 8-8 in the tournament.

“He is doing a great job at the leadoff spot for us and he needs to continue that throughout the year,” the coach said.

To start the tournament, Purcell touched Wayne pitching for eight hits with Cook leading the hit parade going 3-3 with an RBI. Page went 2-3 that included a double. He also had an RBI.

Boston Knowles, Billingsley and Cooper Selman all had a hit in the game.

Kash Knowles pitched a complete game striking out four in the six innings.

Boston Knowles pitched all four innings in the 8-0 victory over Wynnewood. Limiting the Savages to two hits.

Cook was 2-2 at the plate and Page went 2-3 while the Savages helped all they could committing five errors.

“I was pleased with the way Boston threw, attacking the strike zone all day and made them swing the bats,” the coach said.

Walkup ripped an RBI double in the game.

Tuttle was in town last Tuesday and took a 12-3 victory home with them. The Tigers out-hit Purcell 11-5 while the Dragons committed five errors.

Deaken Dobbins took the loss on the mound for Purcell.

Boston Knowles had a solo home run while going 2-3 at the plate.
