Dragon Lunch Account accepting donations

Volunteers with the Dragon Lunch Account organization are needing donations for the program as the school year comes to a close.

The Dragon Lunch Account, now in its fourth year, ensures low-income students have funds in their school lunch accounts for meals at school.

Donors help children’s accounts stay current throughout the school year.

Volunteers have raised over $25,000 for student meals since the program started.

“Kids have a hard time focusing at school when they’re hungry,” said Dragon Lunch Account program organizer Jay Tate. “Some kids just need a little extra help with their accounts.”

Money for kids’ accounts is paid at the end of each nine week period and the end of the school year is approaching.

Organizers are concerned about having enough funding to cover the expense this year.

In addition to Tate’s Venmo and Cash App accounts below, donations for the program can also be made to the program’s account at Purcell’s First United Bank.

Any gift over $250 is tax deductable.
