Dolores Scott, 89, of Purcell, formerly of Washington, died on April 11, 2024 at Sunset Estates in Purcell.

She was born in Lexington, Okla., on June 20, 1934. Dolores attended Lexington and Purcell Schools before moving to Washington in grade school where she graduated from Washington High School in 1952.

Dolores moved to Wichita, Kansas, and was employed as secretary to the shipping department foreman at Beech Aircraft. It was at Beech Aircraft where she met Jim Jones who swept her off her feet. He was a crew chief of engine inspection, one building away from the shipping department.

Dolores and Jim were married January 13, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Washington, Okla. To this union two children were born, a daughter, Terrye Lee and a son, James Edward (Eddy).

The family moved to Oklahoma in 1962. Dolores was employed by Roy Wilson Manufacturing for 26-1/2 years as a secretary to Roy Wilson and office manager.

Dolores was a dedicated mother. She loved attending her children’s school activities and ball games and rarely missed an event or ball game. She served as F.H.A. Mother and F.F.A. Mothers Club president and as a parent Boy Scout and Girl Scout volunteer.

She was very devoted to her grandchildren and loved having them for overnight visits, entertaining them at her pool and traveling with them near and far. She adored them all and thanked God daily for her many blessings.

After retiring from Roy Wilson Manufacturing, she worked part-time for Purcell Automotive, Marcum’s Nursery, the McClain County Treasurer and the McClain County Election Board. She loved working part-time, but her first love was her family and her home.

Dolores married Sterling F. Scott April 25, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple continued to work part-time and traveled frequently. Dolores was a member of First Baptist Church in Washington. She was also a member of the FCE Club of Washington, as project chairman and former member of the Women of the Moose #208 in Norman where she held the office of Guide for one term and earned an academy of friendship degree.

Survivors include her aunt, Deana Page of Lexington; daughter, Terrye (Jones) Dewey and husband, David Nowak, of Norman; daughter-in-law, Teresa Jones of Wayne; grandchildren, Jessica (Jones) Bates and husband, Rick, of Wayne, David Dewey and wife, Clare Fletcher, of Sydney, Australia, Michele (Jones) Caldwell and husband, Derek, of Wayne, Julie (Jones) Sharp and husband, Brian, of Wayne and Caroline Dewey and partner, Ethan Sobczak, of Washington; great-grandchildren, Emyrson Johnson, Dorothy Fletcher Dewey, Adrian Jones, Easton Sharp and Swayze Sharp; bonus great-grandchildren, Adara Bates, Avah Bates, Joel Caldwell, Ashtynn Caldwell, Carrie Caldwell and Madilyn Sharp and bonus great-great-grandchild, Kairen Caldwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Woody Killgore; husbands, James P. (Jim) Jones and Sterling F. Scott; and her beloved son, James Edward (Eddy) Jones.
