Lady ‘Dawgs tip with the Warriors at 6 p.m., boys follow

The Lexington Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will stay local for Districts as they travel to Washington on Saturday to face the Warriors.

The girls will tip at 6 p.m. while the boys will tip at 7:30 p.m.

Washington’s girls are 23-1 and ranked No. 1 in class 3A. The Warriors are 19-5 and ranked No. 9 in class 3A.

Monday night the Lady ‘Dawgs picked up a 49-31 win over Little Axe.

Lexie Torres and Dulce Rodriguez were Lexington’s leading scorers with 16 and 15, respectively. Hadley Wilkins joined them in double figures with 11.

Lexington jumped out in front, outscoring Little Axe 16-11 in the first quarter. They outscored the Lady Indians in all quarters but the fourth.

Last Tuesday, the Lady ‘Dawgs were in Latta where they fell to the Lady Panthers, 68-19.

Scoring was hard to come by as Lexington was outscored through the first three quarters. They bested Latta 10-6 in the final stanza.

Torres led the team with seven points.

Boys

The Bulldogs dropped their last two contests before Districts, a 65-43 loss to Little Axe and a 59-38 loss to Latta.

Tuesday’s game at Little Axe had the Bulldogs ahead 19-11 after the first quarter, but Little Axe came roaring back, outscoring the Bulldogs 15-2 and holding a 26-21 halftime lead.

Little Axe won the second half scoring and came away with the 22-point win.

Colt Mixon was Lexington’s leading scorer with 14 points. Cash Dierking added nine while Gavrie Williams had eight.

Last Tuesday Lexington dropped a game with Latta. Dierking had a team-high 16 points, including three from behind the arc in the third quarter.

Elijah Pearman had nine.
