Lexington will host Little Axe Friday in the Bulldog’s 2025 homecoming tilt at Floyd West Field.

Kickoff at 7 p.m. will follow the 6:30 coronation ceremony.

The Indians bring a 1-2 season record into the contest while Lexington is off to a 2-1 start as district play begins for both clubs.

Little Axe will operate out of the spread formation when they are on offense and they have the signal caller to fit the bill.

“Their quarterback (Louden Gregory) is very athletic,” head coach Keith Bolles reports of the Indian attack.

“He throws the deep ball very well,” the coach confirmed.

And he has a huge forward wall that protect him.

“They are very big up front,” Bolles confirmed. “We’ve got to perform and not take any plays off.”

The Indians base their defense out of a 4-3 but are very multiple.

“They have shown some blitzes and put a lot of people in the box,” Bolles said. “They try to cause confusion for the offensive linemen.”

The coach said the key for a Lexington victory is to play at 100 percent.

“We looked at our last 50 offensive plays and on 47 of them someone made a mistake or didn’t do what they are supposed to do. We are going to simplify our offense just a little bit and make sure we are all on the same page.

“That’s our big emphasis this week,” Bolles said. “We are looking forward to the game Friday.”

Bolles said his staff and team are looking to use last Friday’s 55-0 loss to Purcell as a learning tool.

“It’s a learning process,” he said. “It was a non-district game. It didn’t turn out the way we wanted but we learned about some people. We’ve been getting ready for Little Axe, our first district game.

“It was a rough night all the way around,” the coach said. “We had some things that worked but we’ve got to get better. Hopefully that game will help us.”

Bolles praised the play of Issac Martin, who graded out at 90 percent blocking and lead the team in tackles on defense.

Bulldog notes:

Head coach Keith Bolles nominated Issac Martin as the Offensive Lineman of the Week. He graded out at 90 percent against Purcell.

There were no other nominations.
