A Celebration of Life service for Darlene Canada, 73, of Newcastle will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
Mrs. Canada passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2024.
Joyce Darlene Shobert was born on July 13, 1951 in Maysville, Oklahoma, the youngest of eight children born to Jessie Marion Shobert and Dorothy Lurine (Croslin) Shobert.
She attended Wayne Public Schools where she excelled as an athlete, especially in basketball, and graduated with the Bulldog Class of 1969.
Darlene married young to Lloyd Johnathon Hendrix, and together they had two wonderful sons, Kelly and Colby. Becoming a mother was one of her greatest accomplishments in life, only to be rivaled with becoming a nannie, and great grandmother.
In 1978, the Hendrix family moved to Newcastle. While in Newcastle, Darlene helped Lloyd run and operate a plumbing business. In 1981, Lloyd and Darlene dissolved their marriage, but their relationship remained amicable.
In 1983, Darlene married Ronnie Dale Canada who had two daughters from a previous marriage. In their 42 years of marriage, she and Ron ran and operated an appliance business, managed rental properties, raised their children together, and built a life full of growth, laughter, loss, love, pain and becoming. Memories of a lifetime to last a lifetime.
In her free time, Darlene enjoyed fishing, tending to her plants, mowing, going to her grandkids’ games, and spending every second she could with her family. Darlene was a very caring, loving, and passionate woman. But, she could also be strong-willed and opinionated. She would tell you what she thought whether you wanted to hear it or not; you would never had to wonder what she was thinking!
More than anything, Darlene was a family woman and loved her family fiercely. Nothing made her happier than the day she became a nannie, and more recently, a great-grandma. She loved spending every second she could with her grandchildren, and she never missed the opportunity to cheer them on at any of their events. She was their number one fan and biggest cheerleader.
Darlene was a devoted family woman who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her!
She was preceded in death by her son, Kelly Hendrix; parents, Jessie and Dorothy Shobert; sister, Zorine Moore and brother, Gene Shobert.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Ron Canada of the home; son, Colby Hendrix and wife, Theresa, of Goldsby; step-daughters, Steffanie Grotz and husband, J.C., of Floral City, Florida, and Tobey Canada of Oklahoma City; sisters, Berleta Walck of Lindsay and Judy Wells and husband, Bob, of Wayne; brothers, J.T Shobert and wife, Betty, of Maysville, Claudie Shobert of Maysville and Jimmy Shobert and wife, Connie, of Laverne; five grandchildren, Keltyn Hendrix and wife Raegan, Kade Hendrix and fiancé Emerson Moore, Cooper Hendrix, Conlee Hendrix and Callen Hendrix; one great-granddaughter, Hallie Rae Hendrix, and a host of other family and friends.
