Curtis Ewing Greene was born March 5, 1942, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Cecil Ray Greene and Fannie Louise Ewing. Mr. Greene died October 6, 2026 in Norman, Oklahoma.
A lifelong Oklahoman, Curtis began his life in Purcell and later made his home in Norman.
Curtis graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1964, becoming a licensed embalmer before beginning what would become another important chapter of his professional life with the Oklahoma City Police Department. He proudly served his community as an Oklahoma City police officer until his retirement. Never one to sit still for long, Curtis later started his own business, putting his many talents to work and traveling throughout the United States.
Curtis was the kind of man who seemed to know everyone, and if you needed something, chances were Curtis knew exactly who to call. He had a connection to people everywhere and always had a “go-to person” for just about anything anyone could possibly need.
Away from work, Curtis enjoyed the simple things that made life good. He loved old country music, especially Don Williams, as well as Elvis and Celine Dion. A perfect day for Curtis was spent cruising on his boat, relaxing on the water with music playing. He loved to laugh and could find humor in just about anything.
Above all, Curtis loved his family. His daughter shared that one of the greatest lessons she learned from him was how to truly leave your family a legacy, a legacy Curtis created through the life he lived, the relationships he built, and the love he had for those closest to him.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Connie Greene; daughters, Rene Paxton and husband Tim, and Amy Wheeler and husband, Shane; former wife and mother of his children, Linda Greene Bonds; sister, Janis Dumler of Decatur, Texas; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his best friend of 54 years, Jim Adams.
Curtis will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his years of service, his sense of humor, and his remarkable ability to connect with people wherever he went. The legacy he leaves behind will continue through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.
A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
